Butter Pecan Turtle Cookies
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup pecan pieces
- 2/3 cups butter
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In large mixer bowl combine flour, brown sugar and 1/2 cup butter. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed and particles are fine (2 to 3 minutes).
- Press on bottom of 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
- Sprinkle pecans evenly over unbaked crust.
- In 1 quart sauce pan, combine 2/3 cup butter & brown sugar.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until entire surface begins to boil.
- Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Pour over pecans & crust.
- Bake 18-22 minutes or until entire caramel layer is bubbly.
- Remove from oven. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips; allow to melt slightly (2-3 minutes)
- Swirl chips with a butter knife leaving some whole for a marbled effect.
- Cool completely; cut into bars. ENJOY!
